Projet Montréal wants the city to be home to North America's largest carbon exchange.
Leader Richard Bergeron says Montreal is already setting the example by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
He says the city needs to open an exchange to stay ahead of the curve.

"We have to move as fast as possible to be sure we keep our advance on the rest of Canada," he said Thursday.
Projet Montréal plans to introduce a motion at city hall later this month asking the province to create an exchange.
