Ontario Conservatives Advised To Court Immigrant Vote

Jason Kenney

(CP) -- TORONTO - Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says immigrants allowed the Conservatives to take Ontario away from the Liberals in the federal election.

He says the Ontario Tories can do the same this fall if they stick to their conservative values and keep courting new Canadians.

Speaking at the provincial party's convention today, Kenney boasted that "Tory Toronto is back."

The Conservatives made a major breakthrough in Toronto on May 2, claiming eight Liberal seats in a city that's repeatedly rebuffed Tory advances.

Kenney says media and commentators will try to explain away the Harper government's majority mandate and its historic breakthrough in Ontario.

But he says his party picked up 23 more seats in the province because Conservative beliefs -- such as job creation through lower taxes -- resonate with Ontario voters.

I cant believe any one bought the trickle down economics BS Kenny was spouting.

All anyone had to do was drive over to detroit and see how well it was working there.

The Cons made gains with many immigrant voters by leading them to believe they would allow their aging parents to move to Canada, even going as far as to allow an unelected Conservative candidate access to the immigration minister. Not only was this sleazy it has been suggested that it may be illegal.

It will now be interesting to see how they will maintain their popularity when these thousands of immigrants realize that their parents may not be able to come to Canada unless they are very healthy. Even more interesting will be the public reaction that could ensue if we have thousands of elderly parents immigrating here to spent their final years on a medical system they have not contributed to, which can barely look after the people who did contribute their whole lives.

The reality is the immigrant vote was manipulated by Jason Kenny making promises he cant keep, wearing clothes that made him look foolish and eating food he would never have eaten otherwise.

"job creation through lower taxes"

We have seen how well this oversimplified BS worked during the last decade. Taxes were cut, jobs were exported and corporations sat on mountains of cash. Jason Kenny, proud career politician.
