Jesse Willms, Edmonton Philanthropist, Alleged Behind $450-Million Internet Scammer
The Edmonton Sun:
Some call him a modern day Robin Hood, but thousands of consumers say they've been hoodwinked. Since 2010, Sherwood Park entrepreneur Jesse Willms has donated more than $200,000 to local and international charities, including the Mustard Seed Edmonton, Boston Children's Hospital and the Edmonton Humane Society. Willms is facing a civil suit by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for allegedly offering free product deals online, claiming to only charge for shipping and handling, then debiting customers credit and debit cards for continued membership fees to various Willms' owned companies. The FTC alleges Willms has earned more then $450 million using what they call "deceptive" business practices.
