I hope that all the suburbanites that voted for Ford realize that the cuts will cut deepest in their own neighbourhoods: less transit, fewer amenities, fewer city programs, fewer pools open, fewer programs for children.

To be a great city, a city has to invest in itself. To pull out money from the city and saving people 60 bucks a year from the vehicle registration tax won't make up for the fact that your neighbourhood park program for your kids, while you're at work will be cancelled, and you'll have to pay thousands in babysitting to get to work.

The real problem is that the federal government in Canada doesn't invest in cities, which it should. It's the federal government that should be building infrastructure for the 21st century: public transit, for example, instead of giving subsidies to oil companies and the 10% or so of people that live in rural areas.

If Ford really wanted to be helpful, he'd use his conservative credentials to lobby his like-minded Conservatives in Ottawa to send some of our tax money back to us.

Rob Ford clearly isn't a bright man or he is willingly misleading my fellow citizens. Either way I can proudly say I voted for Smitherman and cheered wildly at the Pride Parade when David Miller walked by me. (Miller also received the loudest ovation of anyone partaking in the festivities.)
