The Globe and Mail:

The province’s green-energy economy should be roaring, but it’s not. ... The Liberals contend the Opposition Conservatives have wrought tremendous uncertainty in the renewable energy market by vowing to scrap incentives if they win the October provincial election. This is a factor, but the green-power economy was fracturing before the Tory pledge.

Long before Ontario Generating, Ontario Hydro was pulling the same stunt on rural busineses who were trying the first of the small wind generated power units. The companies would get a price, an instalation date and then Hydro would start with the inspection and certification process and bingo, the buyer gave it up as too much trouble and too expensive. Nothing new here but the other reason this is failing is the very inept and plainly dumb way old Dulton did this. You can't ram power increases like this program down the throat of the public by a public utility and expect any degree of gratitude or acceptence. Add the Hated Sales Tax on to what can only be called extorsionist pricing and bingo, you have resentment and animosity. The only good thing for Dulton is that Tim Who has been too TIMed to capatalize on Dulton's too numerous to mention other stupid acts of incompetency so old Dulton has gotten a much easier ride on this then he deserves.

"Liberals contend the Opposition Conservatives have wrought tremendous uncertainty in the renewable energy market by vowing to scrap incentives..."

Doesn't that really sum up the problem? At a time when oil is over $80/barrel, and gas and home heatingoil are over $4/gallon, green energy still can't survive without government incentives?

Many energy observers point to another problem. Ontario’s green-power prices were set high without decreases staggered over time, spawning an early boom of applicants.

A review of prices is scheduled for the fall.

how anal retentive do you have to be to say ---hey-- you guys are making too much money

oil companies would tell you to stuff it ----so would "monopoly bill" gates
