"...historical evidence points to Arthur coming from what is now Scotland, not from Cornwall in southwest England, or, indeed, anywhere else."

Yes but who's historical evidence. First it was Cornwall, then it was Wales then it was Gaul (where he was supposed to have died in battle) now it is Scotland. I would find it hard to believe that a Romano British war leader lived that far above Hadrian's wall and that a person born in that area had any interest in stemming the tide of the Saxons into the south of England. Too many myths and not enough concrete facts allows anyone in Britain to claim anything. My money is still on Nessie.

What a misleading article based on hearsay and fantasy. Ranks right up there with Noah's Ark on that Turkish Mountain or the flying saucer in the Baltic. First off, the Authurian legends centre mainly in the South with his seat of power alledgedly where he could prevent the Saxon invasions (something did for about 50 years so that part is true) and protect the more settled and romanized portion. Secondly, depending on who you believe, he was Romano British from the West Country or Welsh from the Borders area or a Gual or the son of a Roman noble or etc, etc etc. I have read a lot of fiction based on this and also a lot of "learned" disertations on it and call me forgetfull but I don't remember any Scotish connections. Being of partial Scottish descent, if I found something like this I would have jumped on it to once again prove the superiority of Scots everywhere. Nope, as said earlier, I just don't buy it. I'l put my shekles on Nessie before this

Kind Arthur is a myth based on a forgotten post-roman ruler of Britain. While there maybe a grain of truth to the stories most of it is centuries of embelishment.
