WHITEHORSE - Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski has called an election for October 11.

Pasloski made the much-anticipated announcement at a Whitehorse hotel in front of members of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce.

Pasloski will enter his first campaign as leader of the Yukon Party, which is looking to win its third consecutive majority government.

He took over from Dennis Fentie, who announced his retirement this summer.

Liberal Leader Arthur Mitchell will have four incumbents appearing on the ballot while NDP leader Liz Hanson is the lone veteran MLA representing that party.

The Yukon Party will boast five incumbents. (CKRW)
