REGINA - Striking instructors and staff at Saskatchewan's largest technical college will begin returning to work before the end of this weekend after their union signed a mediation agreement.

A news release on the Saskatchewan Government Employees Union website says it has signed the agreement, which has already been signed by the college.

The agreement would suspend job action while mediation between the two sides is taking place.

Hundreds of instructors and other staff walked off the job Tuesday at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology, which has campuses in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and Moose Jaw.

Negotiations ended Monday when the college demanded the union give up its right to strike during mediation.

The union says workers will begin returning for their first shifts on Sunday.
