A woman was seriously injured Sunday morning while jogging in Montreal's Côte St-Luc, where she was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Police say the woman was running on the sidewalk with a small group on Cavendish Boulevard when a southbound car rolled on to the sidewalk and clipped her with a side mirror, near Fleet Street.

The woman fell on the sidewalk and slammed her head against the asphalt, sustaining serious injuries.

But her condition is stable and "she will survive the injuries," said Const. Olivier Lapointe.

The grey Honda Civic model car drove away, leaving the side mirror behind.

Police are searching for the driver, who they say is in his fifties and has grey hair.
