Blackhawks' Sharp undergoes emergency surgery

The Chicago Blackhawks announced Monday night that Patrick Sharp has undergone an emergency appendectomy.

Sharp was experiencing abdominal pain before he was sent for the surgical procedure.

It is expected that the Blackhawks centre will make a full recovery from the surgery in three to four weeks.

Last season, Sharp scored 34 goals and had 37 assists.
