Pedestrian injured in east-end accident

A woman was badly injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a car in the city's east end and sent through a fence.

The accident happened on Oak Park Avenue, near the intersection of Cosburn Avenue and Woodbine Avenue.

Police say the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and hit the woman, who is believed to be in her 20s, before striking a light pole.

The driver of the car is being treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Police are investigating, but say they believe speed was a factor in the accident.
