Elton John performed to a packed house at Centre 200 in Sydney Tuesday night.
John played 27 songs in a concert that lasted about two hours and 40 minutes.
That was more than enough to get the audience of 6,500 people on their feet for several standing ovations throughout the show.
John took time to sign several items for fans while on stage, including CDs, LPs and even a winter jacket. He thanked the crowd and finished the night with an encore, a medley of Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
"I loved it; it was wonderful," said one 15-year-old fan after the show. "Everyone was so involved. It was great."
She said her mother listens to Elton John and that's how she became a fan.
A woman who travelled from Wolfville for the concert described it as "magnificent."
"I've never heard the piano played like that before. To just see him…it was just the thrill of a lifetime."
John plays two shows in Summerside, P.E.I., beginning Wednesday night.
Computer systems crashed when tickets for the Sydney and Summerside shows went on sale in late July, as up to 20,000 people attempted to get seats.
Credit Union Place in Summerside can hold 5,400 people.
