Storm knocks out power in Quebec

Hundreds of Hydro-Québec clients were left without power Wednesday after an overnight storm pounded southern Quebec.

At the peak of the storm, 12,000 households lost power, mostly in the Lower Laurentians region, and greater Laval region.

Heavy winds knocked over dozens of trees, damaging the power grid, homes, and vehicles.

The town of St-Colomban was especially hard hit.

About 700 households still didn't have power Wednesday morning.

Hydro-Québec said the power grid should be restored by midday.
