OTTAWA - An Ottawa-area woman live streamed the birth of her third child early Sunday.

Nancy Salgueiro, a chiropractor and childbirth educator, gave birth to a six pound, 10 ounce boy at 3:18 a.m.

Salgueiro posted on her Facebook page that she is still deciding on the spelling of her new son's name.

People who registered with Salgueiro's website received an email when she went into labour and were able to watch the birth live online.

Salgueiro said she gave birth online in an effort to dispel some of the fear about giving birth, saying it's important for women to see what a natural birth is like.

Salgueiro says she will replay the birth soon and those on the email list will be notified of when and where to watch.

"It was amazing to watch Nancy," one poster wrote on Salgueiro's Facebook page "So glad you decided to share it with us."

Big deal! No different than a bowel movement or throwing up.

Uterus contracts to expel contents
Colon contracts to expel contents
Stomach contracts to expel contents

I agree, this is disgusting and a wee bit narcissistic as well. She wanted to educate women on childbirth? BS! She wanted to get her 15 minutes and oh look, she got it. Isn't anything sacred or private anymore??? UGH!

I watch it. It was beautiful. She was so calm through it all, walking through most of it. She gave birth in a tub of water. They did not have crotch closeups or anything. It was modest, but also a learning experience to remember.

Childbirth is nothing new in the world, lady. If women were so scared of it, seeing you go through it through the internet is certainly not going to help them. This is disgusting. I'm not old- fashioned, but my god, isn't ANYTHING sacred in someones life????

If you don't want to learn about natural childbirth, don't sign up to watch it. Seems easy enough.

I think something like that should remain private. A mother that gives birth may think it's beautiful, but not every other woman or man wants to watch someone else give birth. My sister made me watch the video of her giving birth to her son. It was not something I care to see again.

If there is a mountain called egomania this woman has climbed it. This is wrong in so many ways I don't know where to begin.

Call me old fashioned, but I dont think a birth is a public affair, nor do I think its something that the whole family should sit and watch afterwards. "Gee mom, you were crowning there huh? OK, now heres where the Dr snipped me so I wouldnt tear. And heres little jake covered with blood and gunk. Gee mom, didnt they have bikini waxing back then?" Are you kidding me?Why do some people feel the need to have to share this stuff? Same people that when you go over their house, they break out the vacation pics?My memory of being at the birth is all the film I need thank you.

Good Lord lady...we all agree that a birth is a miraculous thing...but only when it is personal to us via our family members...I have no need to be dragged into your personal birthing process and I also believe it doesn't accurately portray the other side of childbirth which is unexpected complications and instant emergencies...in my own case thank GOD I did not even think about at home births or those types of actions...as we had a life threatening emergency - completely unexpected and we only had a matter of minutes for surgery to save me and the baby...so this needs to be discussed as well...but regardless I wish you and yours well - but we as the masses did not need to watch your video or be a part of your situation...a birth and the birthing process should be a private, sacred affair for immediately family only - in my opinion.

It was live streamed but password protected, so there was no way to accidentally see it and offend yourself with nature.
