TORONTO - A firestorm over a 911 call peppered with expletives has earned Toronto's embattled mayor Rob Ford a dubious honour south of the border.

U.S. political commentator Keith Olbermann dubbed the controversial mayor the "worst person in the world" during his television show on Friday.

Ford lost his cool with 911 operators after a confrontation with a CBC comedy troupe in his driveway Monday morning.

The incident has since dogged the mayor, who admits "saying the F-word" but denies using any slurs against 911 dispatchers.

Toronto police chief Bill Blair has said the CBC "misrepresented" the calls, but many continue to push for the release of the 911 tapes.

Olbermann mocked the mayor for mistaking a "fake news reporter in a red ballroom gown" for an attacker and then taking out his frustration on police.

Olbermann awards the "worst person" title each night in a segment of his hour long program, "Countdown."

Oh come on now! enough is enough. The TO mayor had every reason to be threatened. Some STRANGE looking "woman" comes at him in the dark. He had his young daughter with him. They seem to make fun of anything in the US. Give the man a break and just realease the tapes and forget about it!!!!!!!!

We in Toronto have still not heard the tape. But the very fact that he called 911, twice, demanded they arrive immediately, and left for City Hall before they did arrive is not surprising for this mayor - he won because he is a blathering blowhard and fooled people into believing he was a populist. He's not, as this behavior shows - he believes encountering a 60 year old woman in a costume and a CBC news camera more serious than the traffic accidents, medical emergencies and crimes that were also demanding the police force's time.

When you have nothing constructive to say on either side of an issue or topic, attack the messenger.

I get it. It makes sense to conserve your heavy thinking so you have enough left over to dress and feed yourself.

If by "can't cut it" you mean a net worth of $35,000,000.000 and an annual salary at Current of $10,000,000.00, then you are right. Olbermann "can't cut it".

I only have 2 points on this matter:

1. I don't necessarily agree that Mr. Ford's antics would rank below Beck's, who has made an art form of being a despicable human.

2. Did anyone pick up on KO effecting a Canadian accent when reading Ford's statment?

I'm sure Mr. Oberman has done some cussing of his own, and I'm sure if he was approached aggressively by a group of unknowns in his driveway, he would be a little upset as well.

The CBC doesn't "Lie", It may have an erroneous Story or a bad Reporter, but stop this attack on a whole Network for the work of a few, it's boorish.

How did they lie? Rob Ford said in his original statement that it was "dark out" when he was "attacked"....that's a lie (one of many from Ford). The CBC hasn't lied about anything. We still haven't heard the audio from the 911 call. Why won't they just play it? Very telling.

CBC originally claimed that Ford called the dispatchers the "B" word, and he didn't according to the Police Chief. The point is the CBC has not claimed their source was incorrect or apologized, that is a cover up and a lie.

Showing up at someone's house was in poor taste, but Ford should have played nice.

I don't live in Toronto ( or even Ontario) so I don't care one way or the other about Mr. Ford but from what I've read, the CBC " misrepresented the call" . In other words they lied about the call. Ford did not call the 911 dispatchers names. The CBC willfully lied to get back at the Ford for not going along with their ambush journalism.
If I was Ford I would consider suing them for smearing him.

I feel sorry for Rob. It is obvious he has issues with rage that are undiagnosised and untreated. I actually feel that CBC should not have went to his home and would have even been sympathetic to him had he handled it differently. If he had simply told them to leave and then had a press conference that going to his home was not ok people would have supported him. Instead he overreacted as he is prone to do and the back of Toronto is starting to get overloaded with straw.
