Durban Fossil Award From The 'Uninformed': Kent

Kyoto Canada Peter Kent Durban Fossil

Environment Minister Peter Kent still refuses to confirm reports Canada will withdraw from the Kyoto Accord.

The minister continued to dodge questions about the Harper government's intentions in advance of his trip to Durban, South Africa next week for the United Nations climate conference.

At the end of his scrum with the CBC's Julie Van Dusen, he said the "fossil award" Canada received at the conference Wednesday came from "the uninformed, or ideologically-driven."

Meanwhile, speaking in Durban Thursday, the Brazilian ambassador and head negotiator at the climate talks, Andre Corrêa do Lago, called reports that Canada was pulling out of the agreement "very bad news" because developed countries need to take the lead on climate change.

"It's very clear that countries that leave the Kyoto Protocol leave to do less than they would do," he said. "If a developed country has the capacity to do much more and it leaves, it's to do less."

If this generation is so intent on killing off the generations after it, then how long do you think we will remain nice about it? At what point do you reap what you sew?

Hide the decline!
08:28 PM on 12/02/2011
That was taken out of context, it didn't mean there was a decline in global warming. The report and the charts talked about in those emails have been reviewed by 3 separate objective panels, showing that no one lied or hid any information about global warming. You're clinging to your own personal view with this.

Funny, "Harper's Government" receives the Fossil award, guess it's not only Canadians who find Harper's policies to be regressive. It's official we're an international embarrassment under the Conservative rule.

Its easy to recognize a teabaggers intent by the assertions they project. I'm ashamed of how our leadership has failed.

Damn those liberals for signing the agreement then doing nothing!
08:28 PM on 12/02/2011
To be fair, the conservatives also did nothing.

Only ignorant, ideologically driven CPC apologists would defend the disgraceful record of Peter Kent and CPC on Canada's abysmal environmental leadership.

You want to hand the corrupt UN a hundred billion a year?
The same guys who did nothing while their pecekeepers raped children in the Congo?

You're a fool. Your posts don't make sense. And all you seem to have the ability to do is reply with a fallacious, spurious inane comments that spew the CRAP apologists talking points.

This one doesn't make any more sense than your usual drivel.

The membership should quit picking on Canada and look towards the United States and China. These are the two countries whose emissions are of concern. The problem is no body has the nerve to do it.

Per capita, we are the worst. For such a sparsely populated country we sure do crap on the rest of the world.

Wrong, look at the mideast.
Odd, but it takes a lot of energy to create an indoor ski hill in the desert.

It is precisely because we are a sparsely populated, high latitude country that we have a high per capita emission rate.
Besides, Per Capita doesn't mean much in the face of the nearly 2 billion people between the US and China. It's the rapidly rising per capita emissions of 1.3 Billion Chinese that means a great deal.

Canada is a huge threat, while ONLY dumping $9,000,000,000 in to this scam, there is a danger that others will also reduce the funding that feeds this hoax. Something north of $400 Billion has been wasted on it, and there are a lot of swiss bank accounts, private jets and mansions that are desired. Not everyone has grabbed enough money yet.
