Quick Study [kwik stuhd-ee]: The Huffington Post Canada's tips to make your life a little sweeter, five minutes at a time. Think of it as a cheatsheet for your general well-being.

For the next 30 days, we're checking out how to take a break from your busy holiday schedule and relax -- in unexpected ways.

THE EXPERT:

The Huffington Post Canada talked to Dr. Bruce Ward, a dentist based in Vancouver, on why we should consider not indulging in sugary sweets this holiday season.

HuffPost: How do you suggest taking a break from the stresses of the holidays?

Dr. Bruce Ward: Less daylight and cold temperatures in December can make us reach for the comfort of starchy or sugary snacks and drinks. Grazing over the holiday buffet table or chocolates at work can have a negative impact on your waistline and your teeth. Exposing your teeth to sugar all day can lead to increased decay. Instead, comfort yourself with some spiced tea, or a cozy wrap and drink plenty of water. Your teeth and your waistline will thank you.

TWITTERVERSE ADVICE:

BLOGGER SECRETS:

New York cosmetic dentist and Huffington Post blogger Thomas P. Connelly says "mouth health" is often overlooked.

Here's the big thing about teeth: they might not be the first thing one notices, but they are probably one of the biggest deal-breakers when it comes to dating, romance, and sex. Not having the nicest shirt in the world may not matter so much (especially since your date may be picturing you without it anyway.) But enter the dating pool sporting a brown smile, missing or rotted teeth, or an infected tooth giving off an odor? Ugh... watch the opposite sex run for the hills. Check out the rest of his post.

If you want to skip the trip to the dentist, try this homemade teeth whitening method instead.
