B.C. Gang Rape: Teen Pleads Guilty For Taking Photos Of Gang Rape Of 16-Year-Old Girl

PITT MEADOWS, B.C. - A teenage boy who was charged with snapping photos during the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl near Vancouver has pleaded guilty.

The youth, who can't be named, was charged with making and distributing child pornography after what the RCMP described as a gang rape in Pitt Meadows in September 2010.

Crown spokesman Neil MacKenzie says the teen has pleaded guilty to making and distributing obscene material, rather than the child pornography charges, and will be sentenced in the new year.

Mounties have said the girl was drugged and repeatedly raped during a rave on a rural property in Pitt Meadows, where onlookers snapped photos and later posted them to Facebook.

Colton Ashton McMorris was charged with sexual assault and Dennis John Allen Warrington was charged with making and distributing child pornography.

Mounties have said as many as 12 people saw the incident, but investigators complained a code of silence among witnesses prevented them from coming forward.

A code of silence "prevented them from coming forward"? What kind of animals live in this town?

How is it that the kid who took the pictures got charged but none of the people who were in the photos themselves get charged? Is a photo no longer considered good enough evidence these days?

It may be that the police are not getting any cooperation from the victim at the moment. Child pornography is a charge that doesn't require witnesses or victims bringing complaints; the authorities would be able to determine that a crime has been committed solely on the basis of the photos. That's just my guess. We can only hope that they will continue to build a case against the rapists.

It would be nice if the police actually managed to get more of the men involved in the rape too. Sexual assault isn't enough.

Stupid kids really don't understand that if you don't speak up for someone else - no one is going to speak up for you.

Good. The actions of the perpetrators and the camera types were loathsome in the extreme.

And you know this based on what? Were you there?

Just another example of why humans are no better than animals. It's one thing to watch this poor girl being abused and do nothing, but to take pictures of it and put it on Facebook?? I don't know what else to say...
