'Canada's Smartest Person': Apply Now, Brainiacs

'Canada's Smartest Person': Are You Him/Her?
CBC

Are you smarter than a fifth grader, or so much more? Do you have the brains of Sheldon Cooper from 'The Big Bang Theory,' Temperance Brennan from 'Bones,' or 'Criminal Minds' Spencer Reid? Or maybe you've just taken past 'Test the Nation' IQ tests and did considerably well.

Whether you are a genius, or just think you are, CBC is searching for the best and brightest the nation has to offer for their upcoming special, 'Canada's Smartest Person.'

But let's be clear -- it's not about how smart you are; rather, how you are smart. What now, you ask? According to 'Theory of Multiple Intelligences,' there are actually six main areas of intelligence: Logical, Visual, Physical, Linguistic, Musical and Social. The person with the most versatile smarts will be crowned Canada's Smartest Person.

The two-hour event will "draw upon the latest research to show that there is more to intelligence than having a high IQ score, or being a whiz at math or trivia," reads the press release.

Only four Canadians will make it to the final broadcast, which will be taped in front of a live studio audience, but viewers can participate from home. Also, a 'Canada's Smartest Person' app will be released to coincide with the show and will allow Canadians to take part in challenges when the contestants do.

The two-hour reality competition special premieres in March 2012 on CBC, but Canadians have from now until Jan. 1, 2012 at 11:59PM. ET to apply, or submit an unsuspecting family member or friend for consideration.

Good luck. You're going to need it.
