Gifts For Him: 14 Stylish Gifts To Give The Men In Your Life

The Huffington Post Canada     First Posted: 12/14/2011 3:21 pm EST   Updated: 10/31/2012 7:00 pm EDT

On paper, dressing a man seems simple -- T-shirt, jeans, shoes, maybe add a sweater and a jacket or a blazer and a tie. But, in reality, outfitting a fellow you know can be pretty complex. It's easy to make him look like something he's not or make him feel uncomfortable in whatever you've squished him into.

So when buying for your main squeeze, son or even a friend, take his taste into consideration. Go with what you know, and perhaps take a gifting cue from some of our favourite made-for-men (and completely stylish) products this season.

We want to know what you think of our gift guide. Let us know on Twitter or in the comments below.

I just read this entire post to my fiance, using a (bad) Canadian accent. I'm not sure if he was laughing harder at my inability to pull off my Canadian Stylist impersonation, or at the idea that any man would want any item off this list. Who writes this stuff?

WOW!
What a lame list.

It is not like it is a secret what we like: booze, tools, firearms, and anything to do with sex!

not even ONE item in the $20 range?

look, i know the target audience of those on here is primarily wealthy liberals, so i am hardly surprised at these choices

so, sorry rich liberals, but your $170 windbreakers, $250 backpacks and $300 blue jeans

are out of MY price range.

i NEED to make every dollar count,

so, even though you might look down your noses at me, I still think i'll stick with wal-mart

$100 Hockey Night In Canada Cufflinks
$110 Merino Tipped Cardigan
$290 Max Soft Raw Pants
$150 Burberry Brit Tonal Plaid Tie
$250 Wool Field Bag

Those 5 items= $900

Maybe these are gift ideas for Arianna.

I'll take the money instead.

A $150 tie, for the love of God?! A $250 shoulder bag?!

Personally, I could always use another cordless drill (yeah, I have one, but it's always good to have a backup), as I suspect most men could. Virtually any other power tool would be welcome, as well. If you want to limit the list to fashion items, then some comfortable pjs, a new robe, and some warm slippers, please. And fer crissake don't spend a gazillion dollars on them that we don't have and can't afford.

so true

the type of rich upper wide side liberal that doesn't think twice about buying a $300 pair of blue jeans (or as they like to call them "denim couture")

is the same type of out-of-touch liberal that tells me not to take advantage of the bargains at wal-mart.

but sorry, rich liberals, i dont feel like paying $65 for a short sleeve tee-shirt to go to the gym in, as you suggest

...especially when i can buy a pack of the hanes (or similar) color tee shirts for under $5 dollars.

Quit with the liberal bashing, please. It's nothing to do with this dumb list of xmas presents.

Love the merino tipped cardigan.
Can't suggest Lululemon - bad practices in their shipping/labeling.

Hi, ladies (authors) i could tell this was written by women because almost every item is clothing. If you really want to gift something he'll enjoy i suggest the following: concert tickets, athletic event tickets, something technological like an entertainment gadget or a kitchen gadget. There's always that old fashion option too ;-). guys just want to go out and have a good time with their girl.

Kitchen Gadget????
If you mean anything more complex than a fork, my husband will have NONE of it.
Tools, on the other hand, and books, would be better.

Hey, some of us (me included) love to cook. And a good thing, too. Dearest wifey is a baker extraordinaire, but can't cook to save her life. Out of self defense, I do all the cooking. I'd love to get my hands on the new Kitchenaide food processor (changes cutting thickness on the fly, can you believe it?). I mean, when push comes to shove, it's just a specialized power tool.

I am a guy and I cook about 30-40% of our meals so I guess it depends on the guy. ;-)
