Dark clouds of smoke engulfed two office towers in Hanoi on Thursday. The buildings belong to the EVN Center for Telecommunications Information Management.

According to local news website TuoiTre News, the fire broke out at around 4:30 p.m. local time (4:30 a.m. ET) and more than a dozen workers were initially trapped in the building.

According to the site, the fire in the 33-storey twin towers were put out just before 9 p.m. local time. AP reports that 16 workers were sent to hospital with smoke inhalation and respiratory issues from the blaze.

Videos of the fire show a significant amount of smoke engulfing the building and could be seen from blocks away.

According to social media news site Storyful, the fire may have originated in a transformer station in one of the basements.
