Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM-T12.90-0.47-3.52%) has turned down takeover overtures from Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN-Q182.523.191.78%) and other potential buyers because the BlackBerry maker prefers to fix its problems on its own, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

Having my doubts about whether Blackberry can fix it's own problems. It looks to me to be more and more like Palm Pilot (remember them?). Should've taken the deal . . . . . .

Maybe the best deal they were going to see for awhile. Maybe it came with too may strings attached like the co-honchos and the other executives who are leading this ship aground having to go and they are not in the business of firing themselves as their egos won't allow it.

In a year, Amazon may come back - this time, offering far less. And they succeed then where they have failed now.

If, that is, they are still interested.
