Jaden Schwartz to captain Canada's team at world junior championships

Jaden Schwartz will captain Canada at the world junior hockey championships.

The 19-year-old forward from Wilcox, Sask., is in his second year at Colorado College, where he ranks second on the team with 18 points in 13 games this season.

Defenceman Brandon Gormley of Murray River, P.E.I., and forwards Brett Connolly of Prince George, B.C., Quinton Howden of Oak Bank, Man., and Devante Smith-Pelly of Toronto will serve as alternates.

Schwartz, Connolly and Howden are returning veterans.

The world championship tournament runs Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Calgary and Edmonton.
