Late NDP leader Jack Layton gets 90 per cent of Newsmaker of the Year vote

OTTAWA - Vote totals to determine The Canadian Press Newsmaker of the Year for 2011:

Jack Layton: 90 per cent

Stephen Harper: five per cent

Others who received votes: Canada's new female premiers (Nunavut's Eva Aariak, Kathy Dunderdale of Newfoundland and Labrador, Alison Redford of Alberta and B.C.'s Christy Clark); the protesters at the heart of the Occupy Canada movement; former auditor general Sheila Fraser; and the Grande Prairie Composite Warriors football team.
