MONTREAL - Thomas Mulcair says he now has the support of 35 MPs in his bid to become the next leader of the New Democrats.

Speaking to reporters today in Montreal, Eve Peclet and Paulina Ayala became the latest Quebec MPs to back Mulcair's campaign.

Mulcair is one of eight candidates vying for the party leadership.

Peclet says Mulcair will best defend the French language and the environment.
