Woman dead after Highway 50 crash

One woman is dead after she lost control of her vehicle while driving on Highway 50 in Western Quebec.

Emergency crews responded around 9 p.m. Wednesday near Masson-Angers, Que., about 35 km northeast of downtown Ottawa and just across the river from Cumberland, where they found a black vehicle that slammed into a lamppost near Georges Road.

Paramedics had trouble reaching the woman, who was trapped in the car.

Once she was extricated by firefighters the woman was transported to hospital in critical condition. She was later pronounced dead.

Weather has been deemed a factor in the collision.
