WINNIPEG - Boxing Day shoppers at a Winnipeg mall got more than they bargained for when youths shot pepper spray, sending three people to hospital.

Police and paramedics were called to Polo Park mall around 2:30 p.m. for reports of youths shooting pepper spray into a crowd of shoppers.

Const. Jason Michalyshen (MICK-ah-lish-in) says an unknown number of people were affected by the spray, which can cause a burning sensation in the eyes, coughing and trouble breathing.

He says emergency officials helped numerous people and took three to hospital in stable condition.

The officer says there were no serious injuries.

No arrests have been made.

These pictures they use for this story aren't accurate. Looks more like a Target Store in the US. The store in question is a sterile box in which there are a series of tables with iphone, ipad, and other apple products displayed.

Most people in Winnipeg are AWESOME. Every city has random idiots that make their city look bad. I Love Winnipeg and grew up here. Got some Peg city love! :)

Yes it is. Wpg is an armpit crime centre where knifings are common place. There were 20 943 thefts under $5000 . Assualts 6 034. There were 986 icidents in the month of July alone. Mischief reached 14 039. Speeding 23 320.

What more do you need to know. Do you live in a cave?

probably bear spray or "dog" spray. Winnipeg has a large pepper spray problem. I saw at least 3 fire trucks, two ambulances, a cruiser, and a mass incident response vehicle
