TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,226.47 up 18.04 points):

Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSX:CLL). Oil and gas. Down 11 cents, or 12.36 per cent, at 78 cents on 18,351,648 shares. The company announced a big shakeup in its executive offices Wednesday, the same day it also touted what the Calgary-based petroleum company expects will be strong fourth-quarter operating and financial results.

Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY). Chartered bank. Up 17 cents, or 0.32 per cent, at $52.95 on 12,342,237 shares.

Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (TSX:POT). Potash exploration. Down 84 cents, or 1.90 per cent, at $43.42 on 7,559,886 shares.

Starfield Resources Inc. (TSX:SRU). Miner. Unchanged at 2.5 cents on 6,181,750 shares.

Labrador Iron Mines Holdings Ltd. (TSX:LIM). Miner. Down 31 cents, or 5.72 per cent, at $5.11 on 5,919,568 shares.

Crocodile Gold Corp. (TSX:CRK). Miner. Up one cent, or 1.92 per cent, at 53 cents on 4,934,770 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,515.89 up 9.61 points):

Canadian Oil Recovery & Remediation Enterprises Ltd. (TSXV:CVR). Oil and gas. Up eight cents, or 14.29 per cent, at 64 cents on 3,665,231 shares.

Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. (TSXV:GWG). Miner. Up eight cents, or 18.18 per cent, at 52 cents on 2,638,291 shares.

RuggedCom Inc. (TSX:RCM). Communication equipment. Up eight cents, or 0.32 per cent, at $24.83 on 180,623 shares. The company said Wednesday that it is pursuing a number of alternative deals as its board unanimously recommended that shareholders reject a $272.4-million hostile takeover bid by Belden Inc. (NYSE:BDC).

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up 19 cents, or 0.91 per cent, at $21.06 on 1,207,100 shares. The international miner said Wednesday that production at its Kansanshi copper-gold mine in Zambia has stopped due to a labour dispute.
