Former Scout Leader Faces More Sexual Assault Charges

Winnipeg police have laid additional sexual assault charges against a 39-year-old Winnipeg man who led an outdoor program for Scouts Canada.


Stuart Garrett Young was first charged in August with the sexual exploitation and assault of a teenage boy from Winnipeg.


Police said he committed the alleged offences between May 2009 and May 2011.


Young had a court date in October to address the first charges, but turned himself in Thursday due to the continuing investigation, which police say uncovered two more alleged victims.


He is in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.


Police have added two more sexual assault charges and one charge of sexual exploitation in connection to the new victims. Young was also charged with voyeurism and failing to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.


Young had been a volunteer with Scouts Canada for 14 years at the time he was originally charged. He was working on an outdoor program for kids between the ages of 14 and 17.


Police believe he met the alleged victims through the activities, but say the alleged assaults did not happen during any Scouts events.


He has since been suspended from Scouts Canada.

I stopped by the Winnipeg Scouts office about a year and a half ago. The people I met were quite nice. I did not get any 'vibe' from them. (And I did not meet Mr. Young.) I believe that Scouting is a good program for youth. Yes, this creep will set the local and national program back.
But Scouting needs to continue. I hope that Scouts Canada can use this mess to get more and better volunteers. Kids deserve the best. To make a Scout program work, the best have to be encouraged to serve.

It took long enough for these "victoms" to come foreward.Does he say he is innocent?Why did this young person take 2 years to decide it was wrong? Were did anything happen? Who knows, maybe he is innicent. just saying.

Do you suppose he was corrupted by "Adult Entertainment" on TV or by a "groomer" or by a "rapist" or perhaps he is innocent, I have no idea. Some idiot would perhaps try to tell you, "He was born that way, so leave him alone !".

Yep. There is a lot of bad influence in the world, who knows how some of the "twisted" get so twisted. I watched an Oprah that said a study indicted one in six boys are molested and one in four girls. I would like to see a movement that would result in the term "Adult" never to be used to mean pornographic or smutty or sexual, as using it seems to indicate Adults are just naturally perverts or of loose morals, and I don't know what the percentage is but I believe there are many morally decent adults.
