7 dead in Quebec accidents

Seven people were killed in Quebec over the New Year weekend in a series of accidents involving cars and all-terrain vehicles.

A 19-year-old man died early Monday morning after his car veered off Route 233 in Saint-Césaire in an accident police say involved alcohol and speeding.

Two women were killed on Sunday in a head-on collision near Portage-du-Fort on the Quebec-Ontario border after they lost control of their car.

Three people died in all-terrain vehicle accidents on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man riding his ATV outside Quebec City died after he was involved in an accident near the airport.

Elsewhere in Quebec, two teenagers riding an ATV were killed near a trailer park after hitting the ditch in Cookshire-Eaton, in the Eastern Townships.

Police say both the teens were wearing helmets.

In the Mauricie region, a 51-year-old man died in a snowmobile accident Saturday night.

Police say he lost control of the vehicle and it landed on top of him.
