Teen girl injured after car collision

A teenager is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car while crossing Rosemont Boulevard in Montreal's east end Thursday afternoon.

Police say the girl, 13, was hit as she crossed the four-lane boulevard near Albani Avenue at 4:15 p.m.

The driver was heading west at the time, and the girl "was crossing the boulevard facing a red light," said Const. Anie Lemieux.

Police are meeting with eyewitnesses, but initial reports suggest the girl was crossing the road to meet friends on the other side.

Collision experts were called to the scene, and the driver – man in his thirties – was being questioned.

He wasn't injured in the collision.
