Woman arrested after Queen Street West crash

Charges are pending against a woman who allegedly tried to run away from the scene of a multi-vehicle collision on Queen Street West, Toronto police say.

Const. Wendy Drummond told CBC News that a police officer was en route to another call at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday when a woman was seen exiting a vehicle that appeared to have been recently damaged.

When the officer stopped to investigate, a witness came forward to provide information about the crash and the woman fled the scene on foot.

The woman was quickly caught. Drummond said the woman and the police officer suffered minor injuries during the arrest.

Police say the woman is suspected of smashing into four other vehicles with her car.

There is still no word on what charges the woman will face.

The TTC was forced to divert streetcars for a brief period on Thursday morning after the collision closed Queen Street West near Ossington Avenue.
