Walk Off The Earth: Ontario Band's Cover Of 'Somebody That I Used To Know' Goes Viral (VIDEO)

WATCH: Ontario Band's Cover Goes Viral

Burlington, Ont. indie band Walk Off the Earth has an online hit with a cover of Australian singer-songwriter Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know." The video - which was posted less than a week ago on Youtube - has already garnered more than 8.7 million views.

It features the band's four members and singer Sarah Blackwood sharing a single guitar while performing the song.

The video and the band have picked up a few famous fans, including actor Russell Crowe. On Jan. 7, the Oscar winner tweeted: "Check out Walk Off the Earth's cover of Somebody I used to know. Brilliant."

The band, not surprisingly, has been thrilled with the attention.

"To all the independent musicians out there. I hope this shows that you can make a name for your band with no help from record labels and management and next to no money. Stay true to your dreams and your passions, whether they be music related or not. Don't wait for people to help you because they never will. The only time the music industry will want to help you is when you have done all the work yourself!," the band wrote on its Facebook page.

The band even caught the attention of the song's original artist. Gotye tweeted: "I know who to ask for help with acoustic versions of Somebody: Walk Off The Earth http://bit.ly/wIOlea Hilarious and brilliant."
