PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Premier Christy Clark has announced an expansion of an open pit copper mine in central B.C.

The Huckleberry Mine southwest of Houston has been in production since 1997 and the expansion will keep it running another nine years, producing an extra 424 million pounds of copper.

Clark says the expansion will provide about 70 new jobs and is part of her government's plan to create more jobs in B.C.

The government says it hopes to see eight new mines and another nine mine

expansions in B.C. by 2015.
