Toronto firefighter mayday call during storage facility fire

Dramatic audio has surfaced from Monday's five-alarm fire at a west-end Toronto storage facility.

Audio posted on YouTube by a user named "firefighterdispatch" captures the few frantic moments after a firefighter fell through a floor in building.

During the action Kevin Aucoin, one of the firefighters battling the fire, falls through the floor of the burning building.

"Mayday, mayday, this is rescue 345. This is a mayday. Kevin Aucoin has fallen through the floor on the third floor," one the other firefighters calls.

Confusion follows, even though crews inside know who's missing, crews outside don't.

It takes more than a minute before Aucoin responds to his colleagues.

"Ground crews, this is Kevin Aucoin. I've fallen through to the second floor. I can see light towards the north side of the building," he says.

Aucoin left the building under his own power and was treated by EMS for minor injuries.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution and later released.
