Police have arrested five people after a nine-hour standoff at a home on the 5800 block of Knight Street in East Vancouver on Friday morning.
The standoff shut down traffic along Knight Street between 41st Avenue and 49th Avenue until five people were persuaded to come out of the home and were arrested by police.
The street was reopened to traffic at around 11:15 a.m. PT.
The incident began when police responded to a 911 call just after midnight.
The police emergency response team responded with an armoured truck. Officers used a loudspeaker to demand the occupants of the house come out, before eventually firing off some sort of canisters at the home.
After searching the house, police said they found evidence of a grow-op. Nobody was injured in the incident, said police.
"The investigation is continuing and no one has been charged at this early stage," said Const. Jana McGuinness in a statement issued just before noon.
