SASKATOON - The Saudi Arabian Embassy is now involved in the case of missing 23-year-old Hamza Alsharief, a University of Saskatchewan student from Saudi Arabia.

Alsharief is a chemical engineering student who was reported missing in mid-December.

Const. Tisha Rae Stonehouse of the Saskatoon police has confirmed that the authorities have been in contact with Saudi officials.

A news article in the Saudi Gazette says embassy members, along with police, have been trying to track Alsharief's credit cards, cell phone and laptop.

Stonehouse would only confirm that there has been no banking activity since he disappeared.

Even though Alsharief hasn't had any contact with family in Saudi Arabia or Ontario, police don't believe foul play is involved.
