FREDERICTON - The New Brunswick government is reducing the number of agencies handling marketing for the province's tourism and parks in an effort to save money.

Tourism Minister Trevor Holder says the contracts with four agencies will end later this year.

He says the department will issue two requests for proposals next week, seeking an agency to provide overall marketing services and another to produce the annual tourism guide.

Holder says he won't know how much money will be saved until after the new contracts are awarded.

He says tourism marketing has changed dramatically in recent years and there needs to be a greater emphasis on the use of social media.
