Stranded ferry passengers dock in Quebec City

A ferry stranded by ice floes in the Saint-Lawerence River on Thursday has docked in Quebec City.

The ferry left Lévis dock, on the other side of the river, at 6 a.m. Thursday and was due to dock in Quebec City fifteen minutes later.

It started drifting towards Ile d'Orléans. An icebreaker was dispatched to assist.

The ferry finally docked just before 9 a.m.

A second ship was grounded, completely shutting down ferry service across the Saint Lawrence River.

Ferry service was expected to be restored by 9:30 a.m.
