Explosives seized from Longueuil apartment

A series of drug searches over night in the Montreal-area turned up explosives in a Longueuil apartment.

Montreal police executed search warrants at two places on the South Shore and another location in Montreal overnight Thursday.

“Some explosive devices were found inside an apartment, which is why the people from that duplex were evacuated and a perimeter was set up,” Const. Raphael Bergeron said of an apartment at 879 Lasalle Street.

Provincial police were called in to recover the explosives, he said.

There’s no word on what else was seized in the searches.

Police have made some arrests, Bergeron said. The investigation is ongoing.
