Say goodbye to Toronto Fashion Week -- well, not the event itself, just the name. The Fashion Design Council of Canada's big announcement on Wednesday evening revealed MasterCard will be the new sponsor of Toronto Fashion Week. The change is scheduled to take place just in time for the unveiling of the fall/winter collections in March. And the sponsorship changes Toronto Fashion Week's name to World MasterCard Fashion Week.
Robin Kay, President of the Fashion Design Council of Canada and Executive Director, is nothing but thrilled about this new partnership: "It is a great honour to welcome World MasterCard as the title sponsor of Fashion Week as we continue to grow our own fashion landscape with their global endorsement."
The name change, however, isn't making everyone happy.
"WORLD? Before we call ourselves WORLD Anything Fashion Week, we should probably get some international press up in here, and maybe some proper washrooms," said Toronto Standard's Sarah Nicole Prickett this morning.
