What makes an NDP member throw their support behind a particular leadership candidate?

Is it their oratory skills? Their parliamentary experience? The feeling they have that this candidate can be trusted? Maybe it’s the ideas they want to promote. Or the candidate’s insistence that sacrifices won’t have to be made to achieve electoral success.

As the NDP hopefuls prepare for the party's second official all candidates debate in Halifax this Sunday, The Huffington Post Canada asked eight New Democrats to make a 30 second pitch for their candidate of choice.

Here are the seven pitches we collected. Nova Scotia businessman Martin Singh’s campaign was unable to provide HuffPost with contact information for a supporter and we were unable to find one on our own.
