Hamilton police charge man with 2 murders

A man is facing two murder charges and three attempted murder charges in connection with a spate of stabbings in Hamilton.

Staff Sgt. Steve Hrab told a news conference Saturday that Loujack Nougues Cafe was arrested in the city Friday without incident.

They've charged the 25-year-old Cafe, of no fixed address, with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Laura Young, who was found Feb. 16, 2011, behind 116 Cathcart St. in Hamilton.

He faces the same charge in connection with the stabbing death of George Washington Burnett, a man in his 80s who was found dead seven months later in the home where he lived alone.

The attempted murder charges come from two stabbings in early November and another in mid-December.

Hrab would not comment on whether the man knew his victims.

Hamilton Police officers from Uniform Division, Central Detectives, Intelligence Office, Technical Crime Unit, Forensic Unit and the Homicide Unit worked together to find and arrest Cafe.

Cafe will appear in a Hamilton court next week.
