Surrey sex assault prompts public warning

Mounties in Surrey, B.C., are warning residents to be vigilant after a 42-year-old woman was sexually assaulted Friday evening.

Police say the woman was leaving her place of work at Central City Mall, at 10153 King George Boulevard, at about 5:30 p.m. PT when she was grabbed behind by a man.

The male covered her mouth, pushed her into her car and sexually assaulted her.

The woman broke free and screamed, at which point the attacker ran away.

The male suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his mid to late 20s with an unshaven face. He is about five feet eight inches tall with an average build.

He was wearing blue jeans, running shoes and a green hoodie with a 'Canada' logo on the back.

Police say it was an isolated incident and the woman did not need medical attention.
