Five Places Where Babies Have Been Banned (PHOTOS)
NDP MP Sana Hassainia said she was asked Tuesday to remove her three-month-old baby from the floor of the House of Commons. Speaker of the House Andrew Scheer said he noticed a commotion with MPs taking photos of Hassainia and her baby just as a vote was about to begin.
A page came up to her and said the Speaker wanted her to remove the baby from the chamber, Hassainia said. But the Speaker's press secretary said he did not ask for the baby to be removed.
The rule is that the House floor is reserved for elected members of Parliament, but babies of MPs have been in the House before. There is no rule specifically addressing babies in the House, just general decorum rules.
