Club Monaco

Tommy Ton, Canadian fashion photographer and founder of style blog, Jak and Jil, has created two ultra-cool handbags with Club Monaco: a backpack and a messenger bag. It doesn’t surprise this handbag editor that Ton is moving into fashion design. This collaboration is a perfect match.

“I’ve been wearing Club Monaco since I was a teenager and following the brand for quite some time,” Ton says. ”They’ve always emphasized basics with the greatest quality and functionality for both a man and woman’s wardrobe. If any brand could understand my own personal style and aesthetic, it is Club Monaco.”

Club Monaco’s Canadian roots and Tommy’s keen eye for all things fashionable makes these pieces complete must-haves. The capsule collection bags are simple and modern silhouettes, made with brushed nickel hardware, midnight blue bonded cotton twill and leather trim details on bag straps, drawstings and clasps. And with pieces retailing from $198 to $225, they’re not totally out of reach to frugal fashion lovers either (they’re worth saving up for!).

The collection will be available on March 20 in Club Monaco stores across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. Ton will kick off his foray into handbag design at a private kick-off event at Club Monaco’s Fifth Avenue store in New York along with a gallery presentation of his fashion week photo coverage and subsequent parties in Toronto, London, Seoul, and Beijing.

We can’t wait to get our hands on these!
