A section of Montreal's business sector was paralyzed by a student protest Wednesday afternoon.
Students blocked the entrance of Loto-Quebec's building on Sherbrooke Street, near University Street.
Police said the protest was illegal.
At 1:30 p.m. authorities read out an eviction notice ordering students to disperse.
The situation escalated, with police in riot gear moving towards protesters, taking some down.
Several people were arrested.
Protesters were seen moving eastward, down Ste-Catherine Street.
Sherbrooke Street reopened just after 2:15 p.m.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
