New riot poster rolled out by Vancouver police

Police in Vancouver have unveiled a new poster featuring images of 100 suspected rioters, which will be distributed across the region.

About 70,000 copies of the poster have been printed up and are now in the hands of more than 400 police and volunteers around Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island, Chief Jim Chu said on Thursday morning.

The poster features five of the remaining "Most wanted suspects" linked to the assault on Robert Mackay, a Good Samaritan who was attacked and beaten by 15 suspects while he attempted to block looters from entering a Hudson's Bay store.

The $14,000 printing bill was covered by the Vancouver Police Foundation, which is the second poster of suspects issued by police. They have also set up a website and used cutting-edge video analysis to link suspects in hundreds of photos and videos to specific criminal actions.

Police said a total of 177 criminal charges have been laid again 67 suspects in the riot so far.

The riot erupted after the Vancouver Canucks lost the seventh game of the Stanley Cup Finals to the Boston Bruins last June.
