Dauphin Kings coach Marlin Murray was caught on video launching several sticks, water bottles and other items on the ice from behind the bench.
The profanity laced tantrum occurred near the end of a 5-1 playoff loss to the Winnipeg Saints in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League on Thursday night. The Saints lead the series 3-1.
MJHL commissioner Kim Davis confirmed the league is looking into the incident but declined to comment further until the results of the review are released.
"In some respects this is routine," said Davis. "I mean it's misconduct or misbehaviour by a coach, and whenever that occurs we investigate through the officials' game reports, video tape and all those things. And so that's what we're doing as we normally do."
Murray, also the Kings general manager, refused to comment when reached by phone Friday afternoon.
Video of the incident made its way to YouTube and was posted by the sports website Deadspin.
The video shows Murray throwing equipment across the ice at referees Brett Montsion and Ryan Galley. It's unclear what sparked the outburst.
Murray is in his ninth season as the Kings coach.
