Four teenagers were taken into custody early Monday morning after they allegedly smashed a stolen car into a tree after leading police on a chase.
Montreal police spokesperson Yannick Ouimet said they were called in after midnight to assist provincial police, who were pursuing a car that had been reported stolen.
A Sureté du Québec cruiser was damaged when it came into contact with the suspects’ car during the chase, provincial police confirmed.
Officers followed the vehicle to a wooded area behind a chapel in Pointe-Aux-Trembles, where it crashed.
Police arrested two female and two male occupants in the car.
“They fit the description given to police officers following several armed robberies and stolen gas from gas stations in the last couple weeks,” Ouimet said.
The teens were detained while investigators met with their parents.
